Sister Spotlight

I'm the featured Sister over at the Sisterhood today. Go check it out, k??

In other ramblings it has been humid and rainy for the past 5 days and I'm already sick of summer and it's not even June yet!! It hasn't really been that hot yet but it feels absolutely miserable outside. I've tried having the windows open to get some fresh air but the air is stifling so I close it back up within a few minutes.

I have been following some of the twitter conversations that have been floating around about #FitBloggin and it makes me wish I could have gone even more. I'm hoping that next year will be my year to get to go. Wonder where it will be?? I asked Roni on Twitter...so I hope I get an answer soon. If you got to go this year PLEASE let me live vicariously through you and post full reports on your blog and let me know, k??

Have a good Sunday and if you are having fab weather, please go enjoy it for me!!

Power Of One - Week 6

Power of One Challenge

Well if any of you saw my Facebook status this morning you can probably guess what my weight looked like this morning when I got on the scales. I wasn't happy and I took the results and shoved 4 big donuts into my mouth to "try" to make myself "feel" better! Did it work??? Of course not! All it made me feel is lazy, lethargic, and want to crawl back into bed (which is probably where I should have stayed given the weather conditions of the day!) All this to say it could have been worse...but it wasn't what I had hoped for.

So...here we go with my stats:

Starting weight: 3/25/09 -- 226.8

Starting challenge weight: 196.0
Last week's weight: 196.0
This week's weight: 197.0

I'm "only" up 1 pound so I realize it could be a WHOLE LOT worse given the week I just had but it isn't what I had hoped for and I am frustrated with the "supposed" effort I am putting into this journey and not seeing "scale" results.

I spent the week in Kansas helping my parents and ate out most of my meals so I guess I should have known that losing weight this week was going to be difficult but I did continue working out while I was out of town, and felt that despite my lack of "routine-ness" I had done pretty well. I didn't really go crazy with the food and I didn't go to my favorite Mexican food restuarant where I usually inhale thousands and thousands of calories!! I tried to make healthy choices but I didn't have my "normal" options.

Oh well...I'm back home now and snowed in AGAIN (isn't Texas supposed to be known for its mild winters??) so I'm hoping that I will be able to get back into my routine quickly. I'm fixing a healthy dinner tonight and I'm going to make sure I change up my exercise routine so that I can get past this plateau that I have been in for the past couple of months! It is driving me crazy!! I have numerous Wii games and dvd's and I'm going to dust them off and change it up for the next few weeks and see what kind of results I can get from this. Maybe my body is just too used to doing the same things and changing it up will help me.

On the plus side, while I was in Kansas this week my dad and friend both told me it looked like I was getting "skinnier" since Christmas time. Now if the scales would just reflect this maybe I will start believing it, too!!

February Means Snow In Texas....

I'm a wimp...I lived in Kansas till I was nearly 25 years old. Snow is common place there and it never really bothered me. Nor did it affect my mental outlook. I just went with the flow of it. I learned to drive in it. I learned to shovel it. I just dealt with it.

When That Kid was 11 months old, we moved cross country to California's central valley. It NEVER snowed there in the 4 years that we lived there. When That Kid was almost 5 we moved to the Dallas area. One of the things about living in Texas was that the weather was usually predictable. HOT and humid in the summer, mild in the fall and winter and wet and humid in the spring!

This fall and winter HAS NOT BEEN MILD!!! It has been stinking cold (for Texas!). I am spoiled! I do own a coat of sorts. It is more of a rain coat with a liner. It is not designed for days of below freezing temperatures! I gave all our gloves away because we didn't use them! BUT....this winter I needed gloves and a heavier coat, but who wants to make purchases like that when they won't be used again for years? Not me...So, I have stayed inside ALOT this winter...

We got record breaking snowfall this week. 12 inches of snow in about 24 hours. That has NEVER happened here. And what did I do? I stayed inside and complained about how cold it was! It was pretty sad actually. Yesterday the temperature went up to the lower 40's and I figured I really should not deprive That Other Kid of the pleasure of making a snowman and snowballs. Especially since he may not get to do it again for years (at least here!). So I sucked it up, dressed him in double layers with socks for gloves and let him go out to make a snowman and snowballs before it all melted away. We were almost too late. Within 3 hours of making our snowman it had melted. Today the only snow on the ground is in little patches that don't get much sunlight. I am perfectly ok with the fact that there is no visible snow on the ground now. People here don't know how to drive in this stuff and it is dangerous to be on the roads!

As you can see in the pictures the sun was bright! It was very strange to see snow and the sun at the same time. We have been sun-deprived this winter as well! It is still cold (at least for Texas) and there is even more snow in the forcast! What is wrong with this season? Doesn't 'mother nature' know that this is Texas??

Sisterhood Weigh-In

It's Wednesday so that means it's weigh-in day over at the Sisterhood. On Monday I weighed in for the Game On Diet Plan with my friends and I was disappointed because I had gained from last Wednesday's weigh in so I didn't know what to expect from today. However, I have eaten well this week so I decided just to hop on and give it my best shot!

Last week my weigh-in: 189.6
This week my weigh-in: 189.4

So for the week my official loss is .2 and really I am ok with that because as Thea said today during her post a loss is a loss! I also know that I am down about 2 pounds since MONDAY! And I'm still UNDER 190!!

In other news it is STINKIN' COLD in Texas and we are not accustomed to such weather. How do you people in the northern climates deal with all this cold weather? I am not used to having to wearing a coat and gloves and multiple layers of clothing! In fact I believe that I gave away my gloves a few weeks ago because I never wore them. Today I need to run to the store and buy myself a pair of gloves because I have to go and organize the storage unit and get our Christmas decorations out. The new place is mostly organized and I am ready to start thinking about Christmas. I have to take a few things to the storage unit that we don't ABSOLUTELY need here, like the rocking chair and ottoman that I bought for nursing That Kid (about 19 1/2 years ago) that I can't bear to get rid of.

So after a cold day at the storage unit I will take That Other Kid to karate and watch him do his stuff then come home and decorate our tree. Hopefully, there will be some good Christmas shows on to watch as we are decorating!

Hope ya'll are having a wonderful Christmas season...with successful weight loss!
