True Confessions Again!

Today is True Confessions Day over at the Sisterhood and boy do I have some confessions to make! So I'll just jump right in...

1) Saturday morning I woke up HUNGRY and ate and ate and ate! All day long I felt FAMISHED!! I tried to eat fruit, drink lots of water and stay away from the kitchen! I was totally unsuccessful! I baked myself 8 chocolate chip cookies and ate ALL 8 of them, within a 30 minute time period! They tasted yummy! but my digestive tract did not appreciate all that fat and sugar! I spent some time in the bathroom "paying" for those cookies....so not worth it!

2) I didn't really want to eat after that, though so that's a good thing!

3) In the Big D we are used to sunny, warm weather for most of the year. Sometimes we have periods of "downright HOT" -- like the 4 months of summer! Other times we have periods of rain, and occasionally in the dead of winter (like January or February) we will get a cold, ice storm. But USUALLY we are blessed with "nice" weather. However, over the past 2 months we have had soooooo much rain and cloud cover it's starting to really get "OLD"! How do the people of Seattle deal with this year in and year out?? There is no way I could live like this long term...Anyway, my point is that I'm so stinkin' tired of rain and clouds! we haven't been able to play outside, take walks, or anything requiring the "great outdoors" because of the constant RAIN!! I don't know how much we have had but there is a lake out in my backyard!! UGH!!

4) I NEED SUNSHINE!!! PLEASE!!! and a bit warmer weather than 55 degrees would be 'swell' too! Remember this is Texas??!! It's supposed to be WARM!! I have had to turn the heat on in our house nearly every day for the past week or two and this is not something I am accustomed to doing till mid November! and I can't remember a time when it has had to run periodically throughout the day until DECEMBER!!

5) I'm thinking all this cloudy and rainy weather is causing me to be a hormonal mess! I'm usually pretty even tempered but lately 'I'm a mess'!!

6) Instead of packing boxes and preparing for our move that occurs in 4 weeks I'm sitting in here reading blog posts, and typing up my own.

7) I also just sat down to a 'healthy' lunch of chips and queso! That outta help me meet my goal of only weighing 195.8 this Wednesday, dontcha think?? But at least I didn't drink the coke sitting in the cabinet, right? I drank water!!

8) Well I can't think of anything else...just didn't want to be "odd" and stop at 7!!

Go check out the other "Confessions" over at the Sisterhood! You'll be glad you did!

Updating My Life

That's what I feel like I'm doing today, so that's my title!

Here is what's going on with me and mine ---

1) I took my computer into the "geek squad" and they told me that my backlight is definitely out on my laptop. All I have to do is backup all my stuff on an external hard drive (which I don't have) bring it in and they will send it in to Dell who will charge me a small fee of $300 to $400 to fix my backlight! HELLO!! Oh and btw, I would need to buy a external hard drive and they would be happy to download it all for me...that will only cost me $100 and the hard drive thingy will be about $70 to $100 depending on the size! HELLO..that's $500 to $600 to fix a 2 1/2 year old computer...If I had that kind of money laying around I could go buy myself a brand new laptop with a bigger hard drive! Instead I had dh hook my laptop up to his monitor (who knew you could do that?? Not me!) Only problem is -- his monitor is big and heavy and in the bedroom/office...not the living room where That Other Kid lives and breathes....this limits my time on the computer, which I'm not liking one little bit, but at least I can use my computer again!! YEAH!!

2) We are preparing to move out of this house (the one we have lived in since 1 month before That Other Kid was born) and into a smaller place. The main problem with this move is that we have TONS of stuff that we need to get rid of to make room for "what we have to have"! Did you know that most Americans have WAY TOO MUCH STUFF?? I am definitely included in this group of people. I went and looked at a storage unit facility today to figure out how big of a space we will need to rent to store all out "extra stuff" -- you know the sentimental stuff that I'm not parting with under any circumstance?? While I was there I saw some people and they had two 20' x 20' storage units and for the most part they were FULL! That's a lot of "extra" stuff! It made me think...do we really need this much "stuff"? As Americans we waste an amazing amount and we also tend to accumulate an amazing amount of "things" that we either don't need or don't really have a reason for. We just get them because we CAN!

Deep stuff for "just a move", right??!!

3) Yesterday I spent the day cleaning and preparing for our landlords to come over to show the house to a potential renter they have for after we move out next month. Now granted I'm not the best housekeeper in the universe, but I'm not the worse either. I would say I'm somewhere in the middle. On the surface, things are pretty clean, but when you get right down to it I should spend more time doing some "deep cleaning" more often than "when someone 'important' is coming over. Anyway, I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the tile floor when That Kid came home from working a game and he sees me and says, "Why are you cleaning the floor?" It made me think do I clean so infrequently that he thinks there is something going on before I will clean the floor? Apparently so! It's made me think ever since...that maybe I should spend more time cleaning!

4) I have been working out most every night for 40 minutes with my WiiFit! I am absolutely in 'luv' with my WiiFit! It's so much fun and before I know it I have been exercising for 40 minutes! I have been trying out new exercises and perfecting some that I had only tried a time or two previously. Go me!!

5) This past Tuesday I went shopping with a friend and tried on a pair of size 14 jeans with elastic waist. I didn't buy them cuz I didn't want to spend $20 for a pair of pants I wasn't crazy about. BUT...I have 2 pair of size 14 jeans sitting in my closet, THAT DON'T have elastic waistbands. TODAY I am wearing 1 of them!!! YEAH!! They are tight, I had to squish my flabby tummy into them, but I AM WEARING THEM!! and I can breathe in them....I can hardly believe that I am finally losing enough weight to be in "regular" size clothes again! This just motivates me even more to watch what I am eating and to make sure I exercise every night. I know that while I am busy preparing for this move it will be hard to stay consistent but being able to squeeze into these 14's is a great motivator!!

6) I guess that's really all I have...just wanted to fill you in on the happenings of my life! Thanks for playing along! You know it's always an adventure here!

Missed Weigh In....

I missed the weigh in today with the Sisterhood because I couldn't make it over to the gym till late and I figured, why bother? I can just go tomorrow morning so that's what I'm going to do. This is already week 6 of the Shrink For Good -- Lose For Good Challenge...wow where is the time going??

There's a new challenge going on over at Shrinking Jeans, but it is a running challenge and my knees....not gonna do it...so I have been debating what I can do to continue with my loss and still get the support from these wonderful ladies. Not that I "have" to participate in a challenge to be supported by them, but I feel like I'm a part of something productive, ya know? Anyway, Lissa and I were chatting via emails and she's not able to run right now either, so we have decided to do our own little challenge -- EXERCISE (any kind -- Wii, DVD's, walking, whatever) 40 MINUTES EVERY DAY!!! Read about it here. That oughta kick some weightloss butt, right??

So I told her, "yes, I am in"...then I went to get started and did 26 minutes on the WiiFit and sat down because I remembered I needed to write a quick email about getting my windshield wiper fixed and here I am 1 hour and 15 minutes later...still on the computer!! What's up with that?? So from now on...ABSOLUTELY NO COMPUTER TILL I HAVE EXERCISED FOR MY 40 MINUTES!! I can't get this weight off if I sit around on my computer, can I?? I don't think typing and checking emails, blogs, and facebook are going to burn very many calories, do you??

So...tomorrow is a new day. I'm going to go weigh myself, I'm going to clean and organize and prepare for a huge garage/moving sale I'm having next weekend, and I'm going to exercise NO LESS than 40 minutes!!

So ... now that I have wasted an hour and a half, I think it's time to go to bed...night all!!

Strange Week

I have had a strange week...I have not felt real well, extremely tired and blah feeling all week. That Kid has been in College Station helping out with a hockey camp so it has just been the 3 of us here. I guess I better get used to that feeling since he'll only be home 19 more days till he moves into the dorms, but I still have almost 3 weeks to deal with those issues...ya know?? He comes home tonight so things will get back to somewhat normal.

I was really looking forward to working out with my new Wii Active game and working out with the new level of the Sculpt DVD, but I have been soooo tired by the time I have gotten That Other Kid in bed all I have wanted to do is sleep, so I have skipped my workouts this week to try to get some extra sleep. It has felt strange to not workout, but I don't think I would have been very productive and effective if I would have tried them. Yesterday afternoon I realized what part of my problem was, because my "visitor" showed up with a vengeance. That explains ALOT!! It explains why I haven't wanted to eat good food, it explains why I have been so tired, it explains my grumpiness, it explains why my face looks like a teenager going through puberty! What is up with that?? Didn't I just turn 44 years old??

Anywho....all this to say, I hope I get over this strange week and get back on track tomorrow...I don't want to lose all my momentum. Yesterday I went to get my hair done and my hairdresser made a comment about how good I am looking. Then she asked how much weight I had lost....23 pounds, thankyouverymuch!! and it feels GOOD!!

Troubled

Today I have been troubled....extremely troubled by an email that I received this morning. It has been hurting my heart all day and I can't seem to pull out of the funk it has put me in. I don't know what to do. I don't know if there is anything I can do. I want to help but it is out of my hands, really. I want to make someone pay for their mistake, but I don't even know how to approach it. I want to stop time and go back about 2 years and then go forward in a different route, so that I don't have to deal with any of the JUNK going on right now.

Maybe I need to talk to a shrink???!!! More than likely I just need to have a good cry and scream and talk to God...that sounds like the best approach...

What do you do when you get troubling news? I am trying to make sure I don't totally blow it with the food today, and I can hardly wait till 9 p.m. so I can start exercising and burning some of this stress off!!!

I'm Bored!!!

You know when it's summer because the kids all sit around and complain that they are bored if they aren't at the swimming pool, right??

Well that's how I feel right now....I'm bored!! I'm bored of my routine, boring life. I need to add some spice to my life, but I don't really know how or what to do about it.

I need to clean the house, from top to bottom, but the idea of doing it makes my skin crawl! I'm tired of doing the same things everyday, but don't really have any ideas on what to do differently. I have so many things to clean and organize that I don't really know where to start. I have records to organize and some to shred, but I need to buy a shredder to do it right, so there they sit in the living room, making me feel like a lazy bum for not getting it done.

I'm tired of sitting around and reading about other people taking great vacations with their families and doing cool things, and all I'm doing is sitting here doing nothing....I want to do something fun!! But...I'm the only one in the family that seems to want to do anything. That Kid is busy with his part time job and hanging out with friends, That Other Kid just wants to swim, play with Legos, or play hockey (destroying my home in the process). I want to go somewhere and do something EXCITING!! But what?? I don't know!!

All this and I'm tired of spending every evening exercising. I would like to sit back and watch a movie, or go have an appetizer with a friend or go to bed early for a change. But I can't quit now....I'm finally seeing some progress and I really don't want to be FAT ANYMORE!! So I spend my days being bored with so many things to do that I don't want to do, and I spend my evening exercising! Maybe when I'm not FAT I'll have more motivation to do something else with my day!!

Workout Update

Thought I would give ya'll a workout update since I haven't posted in a couple of days. Not that it will be too exciting for you, but it's something, right??

Last night I did my "normal" workout -- 30 minutes of working out with 10 Minute Session DVD and then I did my WiiFit Hula and set a new record that was pretty fun...both sides were the same number -- my grand total was 3350 spins, with equal spins on the right and left side of 1675! I've never seen that before and thought it was pretty funny! Then tonight I did the same routine again, and set another new record with the WiiFit with 3365 spins! I can hardly believe I am doing so many spins on this thing -- when I started this 3 months ago I couldn't even do 100 spins!! Wow!! What a difference 3 months make -- 20 pounds lost, many inches lost and I have some real aerobic stamina!

I'm thinking of purchasing a different Wii Game -- Active. I've heard good things about it, but don't really want to drop $50 for a new game, till I've heard some more about it. So if you have it or have something to say about it, please share with me!

On a side note -- my best friend from high school found me on FaceBook. She was also my brides maid from my wedding (almost 25 years ago), and I've been trying to find her for a number of years! I can't wait to catch up with her and find out what she's been doing with her life the past 20 years!! Gotta love FaceBook for the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones!! On that note, if you are on Facebook and are looking for more friends feel free to send me a friend request (just tell me a little about you or your blog) and we'll become even better friends!

Hope ya'll are having a wonderful summer night -- keep in mind this week that Saturday is the 4th of July and the day to celebrate the wonderful country of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA -- still the greatest country in the world!

Today ...

I learned something about myself! Thought I would share it with ya'll....maybe it will help us all!

Today was a very low key day around here. We didn't have anything planned, except to go to the grocery store. I also wanted to try to rent a couple of Wii games that I had heard of. So That Other Kid and I went to the grocery store and then went over to the Blockbuster Video that is next door. They didn't have either Wii game that I wanted so I was frustrated and left kind of bummed out. We went down to the other Blockbuster that is only a couple of miles away and they didn't have either game either. Double frustration!!

That Kid started a new job at a sandwich place and I was planning to go in and bug him like a good mom should:)) So I called Dh and he said he didn't want anything, he had just finished eating a sandwich from home. I didn't feel like I should go buy a sandwich when I could just go home and eat one and save the money, ya know??!! So again, my plans were nixed.

I came home fixed some lunch and ate...that's when my struggles started... I was bored, I didn't have anything else to "do" today except the boring stuff, laundry, cleaning, cooking, etc.

So what did I want to do?? I'm sure you all know...I wanted to EAT!! Nothing in particular, just EAT...so I looked for things to keep myself busy and occupied. It worked to some degree but then I had to go back to the grocery store for some things I forgot...I hate that, don't you? So of course, I decided I NEEDED some snacks. I walked aound the store and finally decided on a couple of semi-wise choices. Skinny Cow Fudge Bars and WeightWatchers Chocolate Chip cookies....both items only 100 calories each. And I only ate 1 each!! so ...although I did kind of blow it, it could have been SO MUCH WORSE!! and I did exercise tonight and I ate a healthy dinner, so maybe it's ok!!

So the moral to my little novel here...Don't let yourself get bored at home!! Find things that will occupy yourself so that you don't think about all the food that looks and sounds so good! Don't watch TV with a bunch of food commericals!! Figure out what triggers you wanting to eat and avoid it or do something to curb those eating triggers!

Day 18 or Day 25 or Day 29...

Depending on what you are counting. Today was day 18 of the 30 Day Shred that I am doing with the Sisters.

Today was Day 25 of me exercising consistently with my WiiFit that my dh gave me for Christmas. Before I started doing the Hula every night with the WiiFit I had used it exactly 2 times. That is terribly sad considering what he had to go through to get it for me. But he has forgiven me and I am using it EVERY.SINGLE.NIGHT now and I feel so much better, physically and mentally! I am losing weight and I am improving my health. I bought 3 pound weights today so that I can continue doing the Shred with weights that really will work for me.

If you have been putting off working out....STOP!! You'll feel so much better and you'll start looking better, too!!

You are probably wondering what the Day 29 is, huh?? Well that is how long I have gone without COKE or CAFFEINE!!! Now I don't even miss it and that is saying something since I was truly addicted to them both!! The first week was miserable, but I got past it and now I no that I CAN live without both of these addictions!!

Day 8 of the 30 Day Shred

Yeah...another day down and hopefully more weight down! WiiFit Hula was good, too-- I hit another record spin -- 6 minutes and 1336 spins!! The Wii board told me that I'm down another pound, of course I don't really believe what it says, cuz they say I weigh about 15 pounds less than what I know I weigh! I'll find out Wednesday how I'm doing as far as the numbers.

That's all I got for tonight...I'm beat and need to hit the showers. I know I promised pictures from the weekend, but you'll just have to wait! Tomorrow will be a busy day, cuz I gotta get the ol' taxes done. Only 49 hours to get'em done and sent off, ya know?!!

Cars!!!! UGHH

They drive me batty!!! Yes, they do! We are a 2 car family, with "under normal conditions" 3 drivers. Do you see a problem yet? I do, but of course it is my life, so yeah...

Do you know what happens every year around the first part of March while living in Texas? The temperature raises to "unseasonable" temperatures of 80 degrees or more. Did you know that driving around in traffic, on the highway with no Air Conditioning can be rather annoying? No, well trust me on this one it is. The ac is not working in our truck (the vehicle that is actually in working order right now). Of course, the ac works in our other car, but the clutch isn't....kinda hard to drive a standard transmission car without a clutch; did you know that? So we are 3 drivers driving 1 vehicle without a air conditioner...and guess what today the temperature is supposed to be "well into the 80's". Whatever that means, huh? And of course the person who is most sensitive to these warm temperatures is the person who has numerous meetings today! (That would be dh.)

Well I'm off to play Wii with That Other Kid and try to accomplish something around the house today, since I can't go anywhere; not that I really want to anyway....what with the warm weather and the no ac problem...ya know??!!

Hangin' In There

I feel as if I am just hanging in there by a thin, thin, thread. I'm tired and things don't seem to be getting any better. I have some kind of digestive problem...I'm either constipated or I have a mild case of the "squirts" as dh calls it....I know too much information!! but this is what I'm dealing with and I don't know what to do. So what I do is waste alot of time, read a lot of books, and veg out playing stupid computer games. This is my lot in life right now so it seems and it isn't pretty!

I could use a vacation...but I know that's not gonna happen, so I'm just dealing with it the best I can. I have been walking/exercising some, not enough but at least some. And I'm thinking of signing up for Weight Watchers....maybe they will help me be accountable and I can put down those cokes that I seem to be hopelessly addicted to.

Calgon!!! Take me away, PLEASE!!

Veggin'

I told you yesterday that I'm having a hard time right now with one of the boys. I don't deal with stress very well, and I usually shut down and do as little as possible. That's what I'm doing right now, but in all my shutting down I have been doing a good bit of wasting time.

My brother introduced me to "Spider Solitare" on my computer last week while dad was in surgery. Have you ever played this game? It is ADDICTIVE. I really wish he would not have showed me this game, but I'm having fun with it and it is definitely a time waster! Just what my little bout of 'blahs' want right now. So I'm off to waste some more time to play Spider Solitare.

If you've never played and want to waste some time, go to your games section of your computer and find it....before you know it hours will have passed and you'll need to pee so bad you can hardly get to the bathroom in time, not that I know from experience or anything!

Happy veggin'!

I'm Back!!

Just in case you were wondering, I am still alive!...just trying to regroup from my trip to Kansas. Last Monday, That Other Kid and I traveled through Oklahoma's snow and ice storm to make it up to Kansas for my dad's colon reattachment surgery that was scheduled for Tuesday. (It went better than even the surgeon expected, btw.) I didn't really have too many problems, just had to slow way down....and drive with wiper blades that, unbeknownst to me, needed to be replaced! I found out soon enough when my windows started icing over and the wiper blades kept missing half the window!

Anywho, I made it safe and sound, with only about 1 hour delay. The weather was only bad in through OKC and surrounding area, so it was manageable. I took my parents to Long John's Silver for dinner, since that is where they wanted to go! As a kid that was a big night out, to go to Long John's, so away we went. By 8:30, which is when we were done eating, the streets in Wichita were getting slick and the windshield was starting to ice up, so my mom scraped the windshield and then we went back to their home.

My family has lived in North Texas now for 13 years and when it ices and snows, we just stay home. NO ONE goes anywhere! Not so in Kansas...it's just part of winter for them. It has to be a blizzard for them to stay home or close something, so it really surprised them that I didn't own an ice scraper! They loaned me one of theirs, so I could scrape my windows to go over to my brother's house and for the morning when dad was having surgery.

When we were leaving...That Other Kid informed me that "old people are awesome!" I had to agree, but wanted to know why he thought so. His reply was, "cuz they have ice scrapers and let us use them when it is icy outside!" I just thought that was a hilarious observation and soooo true!

So....the 2 lessons for the week...don't go to Kansas in the winter without an ice scraper and "old people are awesome"!

Tiny Talk Tuesday celebrates our children and their view of the world. They continually make us laugh and by recording their Tiny Talk we can focus on one of the many JOYS of parenting! Love Languages

Do you know what your "love language" is?? Do you know what I'm talking about? If you said, "huh, what are you talkin' about?" Go
here and find out more, take the quiz and then you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Anywhoooo, my love language is "serving others". I love to do things for people, especially my family. I like to cook for them, clean for them (well I don't really like to clean, but I like to make things organized and ready for them to use, ya know?) and generally just do stuff for them that will make them happy.

This week is the first week all year that I have been feeling good enough to really do much besides sit around all day, so I have been cleaning and organizing and COOKING!! And although, I'm not one of those women who absolutely have to have a spotlessly clean house (in fact, I lean the other way usually)and it is never a main priority in life, parts of my house are now clean and it feels GREAT!!

The den/playroom was todays cleaning project....and boy was it a project! That Other Kid came in right after I started cleaning it and he proclaimed that it wasn't so bad...you only have to step on a few things to walk across the floor! NOW...the floor is completely cleaned up, including swept. There are NO toys, games, puzzles, play dough pieces, etc., etc., etc. We leave Monday afternoon for the week and I'm going to work really hard at making sure that the playroom stays CLEAN till we get back in town next Friday night! I should be able to accomplish it....we have many things planned between now and Monday morning.

Yesterday, my cleaning task was That Kid's bedroom....now before you say it...remember "serving others" is my love language...I like to clean his room when it gets unbearable....and it was! Now it is "mostly" clean. I have asked him to do the desk and file cabinet, and if he doesn't then I will tackle it tomorrow while he is in class. I like knowing that my son will have a clean room, at least for a while. It's easier for him to maintain a clean room if it starts off that way, too.

Next comes some heavy duty bathroom cleaning!!! That I HATE doing! But I also hate having a dirty bathroom, and I have GROSS bathrooms right now...so I need to love on my bathrooms!

So...what have you done lately to express your love language?

Apparently I Have No Life.....

This according to That Kid. And the sad thing about that is I'm ok with this statement.

This came up in a short conversation late last night when I told him I may come watch a hockey game he is working today.
He thought it was strange that I would "waste my time" doing something like this. But I love watching him do something he loves doing. It makes me proud to be his mom!

This conversation "Not so much"!! in the words of Paul Reiser/Paul Buchman....

See, 19 years ago I was a young, pregnant wife working a 40 hour a week job that I was bored with. I couldn't wait till the day I could stop working that job and just stay at home and be a MOM and wife! My last day of working a full time job was the Friday before Memorial Day, 1990. That was a HAPPY DAY for me. I knew that unless weird stuff happened I would never have to work a full time job again....and I was thrilled with that prospect. Over the past 18 1/2 years I have worked on and off but ONLY Part-time. These times have never lasted long and only long enough to dig us out of a financial hole we had gotten into through various circumstances. I always enjoyed what I did during these times but I NEVER LOVED WORKING outside the home.

I love being a MOM...I'm not saying I ALWAYS LOVE it, but I wouldn't trade these 2 boys of mine for anything....of course, I need time away to regroup sometimes (now would be a good time!)but I love what I am.

But apparently to a 18 year old boy the most boring, mundane thing in the world to be is a MOM! This life I lead and have led for the past 18 1/2 years may mean I have "NO LIFE" but to me it is the best one ever! I figure that he will appreciate that in about 10 years!

Happy New Year...It's 2009...

Wow!!! Where did 2008 go??? I know, I know...we always say the same thing at the end of the year and beginning of a new one. But, omg this year just flew by.

That Kid is already half way thru his senior year of high school and is starting to seriously think about college or what he's going to do next fall. I remember starting kindergarten with him in his bedroom, sitting at a little table and chair working on phonics and his numbers. He was so happy to finally be able to read those little readers and proudly did so every night with dad.

That Other Kid is now 5 years old...how did that happen?? just yesterday he was a itty bitty baby who did nothing but cry and eat. Now he's shopping for his own stuff with his own Christmas/birthday money! Btw, he bought a Wii video game and the Shark Tales movie and is so happy he has $3.81 left over to hide from his big brother!

We had a good year, with the trials of normal family life. We all grew up a little and learned new things while going through daily life. I pray that this year we will be better examples to the world around us and that we will be MUCH HEALTHIER than last year!

Some Stuff in My Life....

I've been pretty vague on this here blog o'mine for the past few weeks. Things have been a little stressful in our family and I have just been a little too out of sorts to really talk about it, but then this afternoon as I'm sitting here wasting a lovely fall/winter afternoon doing nothing in particular I decided it's time to spill it... Soooo if you don't want to know what's been REALLY happening in my life, just move on. This may take a while, too so feel free to come back when you have more time or just skip it. Few people will really care...and that's ok. This blog is really so I can have a place to rant, ramble, and document stuff.

So....moving on.

The Friday before Thanksgiving I took our 11 1/2 year old Sheltie to the vet. He had all of a sudden decided that That Other Kid's room was the ideal place to pee. Even though he went outside constantly and hasn't done such a thing since he was about 6 months old. At first we didn't think much about it...just deviant behavior from our old-out-of-sorts dog. But, after cleaning up pee in That Other Kid's bedroom for about 3 weeks, I decided he needed to go see the vet....maybe he had something wrong with him that needed to be taken care of.

Boy....was I sadly shocked! The vet couldn't find anything initially wrong with him, but decided to run some blood work on him. His liver counts were out of this world....turns out he was a VERY SICK PUPPY. She gave me some anti-biotics and told me to give them to him and she would call me Monday with the final results from those blood tests. I took him home with me and fed him his lunch, putting the pill in the food. Now keep in mind that this is a dog who BEGS to be fed, every chance he gets. He didn't touch the food and wanted to be outside ALL.THE.TIME! i let him stay outside, giving him water. That night he came in and STILL HE DID NOT EAT!! ALL WEEKEND LONG!! NO FOOD!!! I called the vet Monday, told her he didn't eat, refused meds, etc. She said bring him back the blood work is not good. I bring him back to the vet...and LONG STORY SHORT....Tuesday morning we took him to the vet to be put to sleep. It was a VERY SAD Thanksgiving for our family...

Now that we've had a couple of weeks to adapt the house seems lonely with only our snobby cat. Both boys want a new puppy, but I know I will be the one to potty-train, walk, feed, etc. this new puppy so I said not till spring! I can't deal with all that and cold weather, too...

Moving on...I haven't been feeling all that great, which is hindering my exercise routine, that I had gotten into. I went to the doctor last weekend, because I'm having problems hearing and my ears hurt ALOT!! Not to mention, scratchy throat and sinus headaches. She basically said I have a cold; rest, drink plenty of fluids, and call back if I don't get better....then she charged me $142 because it was the weekend, and they couldn't verify my health insurance benefits. Never mind that they have all my info on file....UGHH...All this while I am trying to lose weight, just doesn't fly well with me. I have to exercise, eat right and feel good....in order to make it happen. This week on Wednesday I have an appointment to see the ENT, maybe he can make me right again.

On the bright side....I have been sleeping BEAUTIFULLY with my CPAP sleep mask! I put it on right before I go to sleep, and I sleep all night long unless someone wakes me!! No getting up to go to the bathroom, no listening to dh snore....just peaceful, deep sleep!! Ah...Now I just need to go to bed earlier...oh well, one step at a time!

Ok...well this is long enough and probably bored everybody to death, but I feel better and it is finally documented....

Hey

Just wanted to check in and say hi...Hope ya'll are having a good week. Just another crazy week in our house. Nothing especially interesting just normal stuff that my life is made of.

A couple of items of interest...I'm sleeping GOOD for the first time in who knows how long and I have energy I never dreamed of. I'm not tired 24/7 and it feels GREAT!! I'm beginning to accomplish some things around here and I'm able to run errands, exercise and be a normal mom.

Monday morning I got up and went to the gym with my friend and walked 2.25 miles!!! That's the most I've gone since I started exercising again the first of September and I probably could have gone more but since I had not exercised all week I decided that I didn't want to overdo it.

After exercising I went home and got the family organized then went to see Fireproof with my friend. If you haven't seen it yet, HURRY to your nearest theater and see it! It is worth the money to see it in the theater. My friend and I both enjoyed it and were convicted to make changes in how we treat our spouses. Later that evening I went to Lifeway and bought the book Love Dare, which is the premise behind the movie. I'm planning to start putting it into practice November 1 and I'm going to sit back and watch the changes that I know God will make happen!

Tuesday I took That Other Kid to karate class and there was a new little boy who joined class. It was nice to see the Little Dragons welcome a new participant in the class. It's also nice to see someone else join the class, since for the past few weeks there have only been 2 boys in the class. There are 2 more kids that have been coming, but they were absent for a few weeks and they are back now, too. Now we have 5 in class! It's good to have that competition and see how these 4, 5, and 6 year olds naturally compete with each other and work together all at the same time!

Today I helped a dear friend pack a few boxes for their upcoming move. They are moving on Saturday and it was bitter-sweet. I don't want to see this wonderful friend move, but her husband has been living and working in the Houston area now for 6 months so they need to get moved so they can be a family again.....but it was hard to see all their things being packed away. I'm truly going to miss them and I know that That Kid will miss their oldest son, as he was the first friend he made that lived in the area once we moved here nearly 5 years ago. They are planning to get together sometime between now and Saturday....I hope it happens! Diane, you will be missed!!!!! I will be praying for you! I love you!

Tomorrow I am planning to go VOTE since Texas has early voting available!! I don't want to take a chance that I might be busy next Tuesday and forget. This election is too important to skip it!Please make plans to Vote!! Remember every Vote counts!!

Well I guess that covers my week...I gotta go to bed...AND SLEEP, YEAH!!!

Crazy Busy

That's the best way to describe the last week of my life. So much has happened I didn't even have time to document it! I'll try to give a brief rundown now and then maybe next week it will slow down a little and I can detail it a little...but right now there are no guarantees!

Last Saturday was That Other Kid's last hockey 101 class, which is the last skate class before he could start "actually play"hockey. He passed his class and we signed him up for MINI-MITES, which had already started. They let him join in with a pro-rated price and practice was the next day. Practice is Friday night and Sunday afternoon! So once again I am at the rink 2 times a week! I feel like I'm home again!! I was really missing spending my weekends at the rink....no more!

Progressing through my week....Monday I worked out with my friend and then ran errands. Tuesday was Karate.

Wednesday more errands and I got my CPAP mask so I ACTUALLY am able to SLEEP!! It's really a great feeling to SLEEP....my only problem with it is that I'm so used to NOT sleeping that I'm having trouble getting to bed early enough to actually get enough sleep. DH has been staying up LATE, too so it has been difficult to sleep while he is still working knowing that he is going to be coming to bed soon and waking me up to talk to me and help him go to sleep. I have to work at going to bed earlier. Of course, I have to get off the computer and try to go to bed before midnight!!! But, I AM SLEEPING and I'm beginning to feel rested...after I wake up in the morning.

Thursday a friend of mine needed a ride to the doctor and it happened to be a couple of miles from the ZOO so I took That Other Kid to the zoo! It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day. Temperatures were ideal and we had a great time! When we were done we picked my friend up and went home to veg!

Friday we went to run some errands and then we went to the park in our neighborhood with some homeschool friends. Once again a great fall day!! I went home real fast and got his bike and he got to ride his bike and play frisbee, and football till he was exhausted!
Unfortunately, he had hockey practice that night so he was TIRED and kept falling down during practice. Oh well...I'll remember not to exhaust him on Fridays!

Saturday....didn't do anything!! It was kindof refreshing!!

Today, That Kid worked all day....I think he worked 6 games today and 6 games yesterday. Busy, busy, busy!!! That Other Kid went to hockey practice and then we came home and went to 2 fall festivals! The first one was a flop...it was just down the street at the school and it was a real bummer. The second one was WONDERFUL and it was at a church not too far away! There were bounce houses, candy galore, and games for little kids, not to mention food! and it was ALL FREE!!! I was very pleased!

We came home and he took a bath and went to bed with no argument! I need to do laundry....fold, and hang, but instead I sit here vegging on the computer!! Oh well, now I'm gonna go to bed and SLEEP! YEAH....maybe I'll get close to 8 hours tonight!!
